When we launched, the fi rst edition of Forbes Monaco in November 2018, we referred to Steve Forbes, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Media, who wrote in his editorial titled “The First 100 Years” about the “folly” of launching a new publication at a time when the U.S. had entered the Great War. He said: “B.C. Forbes deeply believed in what we today call entrepreneurial capitalism.”

Well, the “folly” continues. Here we are in the middle of a worldwide Covid pandemic and we are set to launch in Q1 2021 Forbes Monaco’s sister publication, Forbes Netherlands. With a population of 17 million—11 residents are ranked on the 2020 Forbes Billionaires list—the Netherlands is the sixth-largest economy in the European Union.

As Forbes reaches more C-Level Executives than Fortune, Business Week, or The Economist, Forbes Netherlands will quickly fi nd its place amongst leaders of the country’s world class companies such as Royal Dutch Shell, Unilever, ING Group, Heineken and Philips to name a few that rank in the top 25% of Forbes 2020 Global 2000.

My enthusiasm for entrepreneurial capitalism has never been a secret, and the opportunity to create a Netherlands edition of such an authoritative title, with an emphasis on the Dutch business leaders, has been well received. A well-known journalist and TV anchor, has joined as Editor-inChief and Princess Margarita of Bourbon-Parma of the Dutch Royal Family has gladly agreed to be a regular contributing writer, all paving the way for another successful edition within the Forbes family.

In less than two years, Forbes Monaco has become the country’s most read English magazine, as we have successfully honed in on niche business content that is simply not available elsewhere. Now we are taking this formula to the Netherlands, building a media powerhouse from a Princedom to a Kingdom, with Belgium and Luxembourg magazines in the pipeline.

As Prince Albert told us in his exclusive interview last issue, “Forbes Monaco magazine provides valuable information to our international residents and off ers the possibility to discover more aspects of the Principality to an audience who would not take the time to go through the other local magazines.”

We look forward to creating the same buzz in the Netherlands in 2021.
