Prime minister Jean Castex has just announced during a questions to the government session, “We have decided to suspend all flights between Brazil and France until further notice.”

The highly contagious Brazilian variant which is more resistant to vaccines continues to circulate strongly in Europe and France, where it makes up less than 0.4% of all positive cases in the country (compared to 82.9% on the British strain). This prompted Castex to acknowledge “we have noted that the situation is worsening” and state respond “from today, anyone in France wishing to go to Brazil can only do so for compelling reasons.”

He added, “Anyone traveling from Brazil to France must present a negative PCR test before boarding, a negative test when landing and follow a period of isolation for 10 days," insisted the prime minister.
